A.Information relating to paragraph 12

1.A regulatory measure to introduce the Ombudsman, in accordance with the Paris Principles, should be adopted by the end of 2025. The Ombudsman is expected to become fully operational during 2026.

B.Information relating to paragraph 24 (e)

2.San Marino authorities are currently drawing up a “National Strategy against Trafficking in Human Beings” and the related “Operational Protocol for Taking Care of the Victims of Trafficking and Serious Exploitation of Human Beings”. The intention is to provide the Republic of San Marino with a comprehensive and up-to-date document, regulating with a single text the procedures and the existing support network for victims of trafficking, as well as to increase awareness-raising and training activities on this issue. At present, the Strategy and Protocol are being examined by the institutional entities involved; subsequently, civil society entities will be consulted according to their competences and, finally, the two documents will be adopted by the San Marino Government.

3.However, it should be reiterated that, to date, no cases have been established of victims of trafficking or serious exploitation in San Marino and, consequently, no case file or proceedings have been initiated before the San Marino Court for the related criminal offences.
