ADOPTION OF THE COMMITTEE’S REPORT ON ITS TWENTY-THIRD SESSION (CRC/C/94)
1.The CHAIRPERSON invited members to consider chapter I, “Organizational and other matters”, chapter III, “Overview of other activities of the Committee” and chapter IV, “Draft provisional agenda for the twenty-fourth session”, of the report.
2.Chapters I, III and IV of the report were adopted.
3.The CHAIRPERSON invited the Rapporteur to introduce chapter II, section B of the report, entitled “Reports by States parties under article 44 of the Convention”, which contained the Committee’s concluding observations on the reports of India, Sierra Leone, Costa Rica, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Armenia, Peru, Grenada and South Africa.
4.Mr. DOEK (Rapporteur) described the main aspects of the observations on each report.

5.The concluding observations on the initial report of India were adopted.

7.The concluding observations on the second periodic report of Costa Rica were adopted.

8.The concluding observations on the initial report of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia were adopted.

CLOSURE OF THE SESSION
13.The CHAIRPERSON, after thanking all those who had contributed to the successful conduct of the Committee’s twenty-third session, said that for the first time the Committee had completed consideration of eight States party reports and that at its twenty-fourth session, to be held from 15 May to 2 June 2000, it would consider nine reports, thereby reducing its backlog still further.
