The meeting was called to order at 3.10 p.m.
Organizational matters
The Chair, giving an overview of the work done during the twenty-sixth session, said that the Committee had adopted concluding observations on the initial report of Bangladesh, concluding observations in the absence of a report for Jamaica and Nigeria, the list of issues for Algeria and lists of issues prior to reporting for Egypt, Madagascar and Mozambique. It had issued a joint statement with the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on addressing disabilities in large-scale movements of refugees and migrants.
A fruitful meeting had been held with senior representatives of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in cooperation with the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights. The Committee had also organized a meeting with representatives of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women) and several members of the International Steering Committee of the Global Campaign for Ratification of the Convention.
The Committee had met with various representatives of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and had held discussions with civil society representatives, a representative of a national institution and desk officers from OHCHR, IOM and the International Labour Organization in preparation for its interactive dialogues with the States under review.
The Chair and the Committee members had, in turn, briefed the Committee on their intersessional activities. A preliminary draft of the joint general comment on the human rights of children in the context of international migration had been received and working methods, including the length of concluding observations, had been discussed.
A meeting had been held with representatives of the Permanent Mission of Mexico on the global compact for safe, orderly and regular migration and the Committee had decided to write to all States parties and to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Migration to ensure that the Convention was fully taken into account in the development of the compact. Lastly, the Committee had adopted its annual report to the General Assembly.

6.After the customary exchange of courtesies, the Chair declared the twenty-sixth session of the Committee closed.
