Organizational matters
The Chairperson, giving an overview of the work completed during the session, said that the Committee had adopted concluding observations on the initial reports of Cabo Verde, Guinea, Seychelles and Timor-Leste and lists of issues prior to reporting for Jamaica and Nigeria. The Committee had discussed its long-term programme of work, its working methods and general comments on the basis of a document prepared by Ms. Ladjel and Mr. Ceriani Cernadas. The Chairperson had briefed the Committee on the twenty-seventh Annual Meeting of Chairpersons of Human Rights Treaty Bodies, which had taken place from 22 to 26 June 2015 in San José, Costa Rica.
In addition to the usual meetings with representatives of specialized agencies and desk officers, a number of meetings had taken place, including a meeting with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to discuss the Annual Meeting of the Chairpersons of Human Rights Treaty Bodies, the consultation process on the elaboration of general comments, the San José Guidelines against Intimidation or Reprisals, and the new capacity-building programme of treaty bodies. A representative of OHCHR had briefed the Committee on its migration-related activities, including on several side events, a film which it planned to release, and an expert meeting on smuggling. The Committee had also met with the Committee on Enforced Disappearances to discuss the interrelated issues of migration, trafficking and enforced disappearances and with the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to discuss possible cooperation between the two committees. An anniversary event and an art exhibition had been held in commemoration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Convention. The Committee had issued statements on the situation of Syrian migrants and on the global migration crisis.

After the customary exchange of courtesies, the Chairperson declared the twenty-third session of the Committee closed.
