Fifth periodic report of Nicaragua (continued) (E/C.12/NIC/5; E/C.12/NIC/Q/5)

1. At the invitation of the Chair, the delegation of Nicaragua joined the meeting via video link.

2.The Chair invited the delegation to reply to the questions raised by Committee members at the previous meeting.

3.Mr. Murillo (Nicaragua) said that the questions had been forwarded to the capital and responses were awaited.

4.Mr. Mancisidor de la Fuente (Country Rapporteur) said that the Committee would examine the responses carefully and, provided that they were received in a timely manner, would consider them in the drafting of its concluding observations on the State party’s fifth periodic report. However, written responses were not a substitute for dialogue between the Committee and the State party. In accordance with its rules of procedure, the Committee would examine the State party’s report in the absence of a dialogue.
