The second part (public) of the meeting was called to order at 3.25 p.m.

Organizational matters

1.The Chairperson said that the Committee had conducted almost all the activities scheduled on its programme of work. It had elected its officers, considered reports and comments from Uruguay, El Salvador, Cabo Verde, Turkey and Timor-Leste, and adopted concluding observations concerning Mali, the Philippines and Seychelles. It had also held an interesting general discussion on workplace exploitation and workplace protection, to which non-governmental and governmental organizations had made a valuable contribution, and a long meeting with Mr. François Crépeau, Special Rapporteur on the human rights of migrants. Moreover, the Committee had met with trade union representatives with whom it needed to maintain smooth, ongoing relations for the realization of the rights of migrant workers and also with Ms. Throssell, with whom it had discussed the issue of media relations. The officers of the Committee had also been able to share their concerns with the High Commissioner for Human Rights during a very productive meeting. Lastly, the Committee had adopted its annual report to the General Assembly.

Closure of the session

2.The Chairperson announced that the twenty-first session of the Committee would be held in September 2014. After the customary exchange of courtesies, he declared the twentieth session closed.
