Preparations had been made for the forthcoming day of general discussion, which would focus on the rights of the child in emergency situations.

The Committee had recently been cooperating with the Executive Board of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on a number of issues and would continue to do so on a regular basis. The Committee had discussed the initiative of NGOs to establish a complaints procedure under the Convention.
