Item 6

1.Article 28 of the Convention provides that the Secretary-General shall receive and circulate to all States the text of reservations made by States at the time of ratification or accession. It also provides that the Secretary-General shall inform States parties of any reservation withdrawn by notification after such notification is received. In accordance with established practice, the Secretariat will provide the meeting of States parties to the Convention with information on reservations, declarations, objections and notifications of withdrawal of reservations relating to the Convention (see CEDAW/SP/2008/2). That report consolidates and updates information previously submitted (CEDAW/SP/2006/2) with additional information taken from the website of the Office of Legal Affairs of the United Nations Secretariat.

2.The Secretariat will provide the meeting of States parties to the Convention with a note containing information on the Convention-specific reporting guidelines adopted by the Committee at its 40th session (decision 40/1). The Convention-specific reporting guidelines must be applied in conjunction with harmonized reporting guidelines on a common core document (HRI/GEN/2/Rev.5, chap. I). Together they constitute the harmonized guidelines on reporting under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and they replace all earlier reporting guidelines issued by the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women.
