Annotations
1.Adoption of the agenda
In accordance with rule 8 of the rules of procedure, the first item on the provisional agenda for any session is to be the adoption of the agenda, except for the election of the officers. Under this item, the Committee will consider and adopt the agenda for its thirtieth session.
2.Tribute to victims of enforced disappearance
The Committee will pay tribute to victims of enforced disappearance.
3.Reports by Committee members on activities undertaken between the twenty-ninth and thirtieth sessions of the Committee
The Committee members will share information regarding activities that they have undertaken in relation to the Convention between the twenty-ninth and thirtieth sessions.
4.Matters relating to the Committee’s methods of work, thematic areas of work and ad hoc activities
(a)Follow-up to the meetings of Chairs of the human rights treaty bodies
The Committee will discuss the outcomes of the meetings of Chairs of the human rights treaty bodies and take necessary actions in view thereof.
(b)Review of the Committee’s methods of work
The Committee will continue to review its methods of work to align them with the amended rules of procedure and with the outcome of the thirty-seventh meeting of the Chairs of the human rights treaty bodies.
(c)General comment on women, girls and enforced disappearance
The Committee will continue the analysis of the information received in response to the call for inputs and the regional consultations on the project of the general comment on women, girls and enforced disappearance, and consider a first draft of the general comment.
(d)Joint statement on enforced disappearances in the context of transnational repression
The Committee will review the inputs received following its call for inputs on enforced disappearances in the context of transnational repression and consider a draft document on the issue.
(e)Joint statement on gender identity, sexual orientation and enforced disappearance
The Committee will review the inputs received on gender identity, sexual orientation and enforced disappearance and analyse a draft document on the issue.
(f)Communication strategy of the Committee
The Committee will pursue its exchanges with the Communications and Public Mobilization Section of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to explore concrete action to be taken to raise awareness about enforced disappearance and provide further information about the Committee’s work.
(g)Promotion of the ratification of the Convention
The Committee will organize a meeting to promote the ratification of the Convention.
(h)Twentieth anniversary of the Convention
The Committee will launch products to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance and plan related activities.
(i)Other matters
The Committee will discuss any other matters relating to its methods of work, thematic areas of work and ad hoc activities.
5.Consideration of lists of issues under article 29 (1) of the Convention
The Committee will consider and adopt lists of issues on the reports submitted by Cabo Verde (CED/C/CPV/1), Denmark (CED/C/DNK/1) and the Republic of Korea (CED/C/KOR/1).
6.Lists of priority themes in relation to additional information and observations submitted by States Parties under articles 29 (3) and (4) and 33 of the Convention
The Committee will discuss the drafting of lists of priority themes related to the upcoming reviews of the additional information and observations submitted by Colombia pursuant to article 29 (3) and (4) (CED/C/COL/AI/1) and article 33 of the Convention, and of additional information submitted by Kazakhstan (CED/C/KAZ/AI/1) and Lithuania (CED/C/LTU/AI/1) pursuant to article 29 (3) and (4) of the Convention.
7.Consideration of reports of States Parties under article 29 (1) of the Convention
The Committee will consider the reports submitted by Malawi (CED/C/MWI/1) and Samoa (CED/C/WSM/1) pursuant to article 29 (1) of the Convention.
8.Consideration of additional information and observations submitted by States Parties under articles 29 (3) and (4) and 33 of the Convention
The Committee will consider the additional information submitted by Ecuador pursuant to article 29 (3) and (4) of the Convention (CED/C/ECU/AI/1), and the additional information and observations submitted by Iraq pursuant to article 29 (3) and (4) of the Convention (CED/C/IRQ/AI/2) and article 33 of the Convention (CED/C/IRQ/OVR/1).
9.Consideration of the report on requests for urgent action under article 30 of the Convention and of updates related to the management of the procedure
The Committee will consider the report on requests for urgent action received and follow‑up action taken since the twenty-ninth session, and updates related to the management of the procedure.
10.Follow-up to Views of the Committee
The Committee will consider the report of the rapporteur on follow-up to Views pursuant to article 31 of the Convention and rule 81 of the rules of procedure.
11.Visits by the Committee under article 33 of the Convention
The Committee will address any issues related to visits that it has requested or plans to request pursuant to article 33 of the Convention. In that context, it will follow up on developments related to the reports on its visits to Colombia (CED/C/COL/VR/1 (Findings) and CED/C/COL/VR/1 (Recommendations)), Iraq (CED/C/IRQ/VR/1 (Findings) and CED/C/IRQ/VR/1 (Recommendations)) and Mexico (CED/C/MEX/VR/1 (Findings) and CED/C/MEX/VR/1 (Recommendations)).
12.Procedure under article 34 of the Convention
The Committee will consider any new information received related to the procedure under article 34 of the Convention.
13.Consideration and adoption of the annual report to the General Assembly
The Committee will consider and adopt its annual report to the General Assembly, to be presented to the Third Committee of the Assembly in October 2026.
14.Reprisals
The rapporteur on reprisals will report on action taken regarding any allegations of reprisals received since the twenty-ninth session of the Committee.
15.Meetings with States Members of the United Nations
The Committee will hold meetings with States parties and States signatories to the Convention and other States Members of the United Nations to discuss topics relevant to the Convention.
16.Meetings with United Nations agencies and mechanisms and intergovernmental organizations
The Committee will hold meetings with United Nations agencies and mechanisms and with intergovernmental organizations that work on issues related to enforced disappearance.
17.Meetings with civil society actors, national human rights institutions and other stakeholders
The Committee will hold meetings with civil society actors, national human rights institutions and other stakeholders on the situation of enforced disappearance in States Parties to be considered at the thirtieth session and on matters relating to the implementation of the Convention.
18.Meetings with special procedure mandate holders and regional human rights mechanisms
The Committee will hold meetings with special procedure mandate holders and regional human rights mechanisms to promote cooperation with them and to address specific issues of joint concern.
19.Provisional agenda of the thirty-first session
The Committee will discuss the list of items to be included in the provisional agenda of its thirty-first session, to be held in 2026.
