The CHAIRPERSON invited the Committee to adopt its draft concluding observations on the initial report of Zambia (E/C.12/1/Add.106).

The draft concluding observations were adopted.

The CHAIRPERSON invited the Committee to adopt its draft concluding observations on the initial report of China (E/C.12/1/Add.107).

The draft concluding observations were adopted.

Mr. KOLOSOV said that he had not supported the adoption of the Committee’s concluding observations on the initial report of China for the reasons indicated in the statement circulated to Committee members, relating to the human rights situation in Tibet.

The CHAIRPERSON invited the Committee to adopt its draft concluding observations on the initial report of Serbia and Montenegro (E/C.12/1/Add.108).

The draft concluding observations were adopted.

The CHAIRPERSON invited the Committee to adopt its draft concluding observations on the fourth periodic report of Norway (E/C.12/1/Add.109).

The draft concluding observations were adopted.

The CHAIRPERSON invited the Committee to adopt its draft general comment No. 16 on the equal right of men and women to the enjoyment of all economic, social and cultural rights.

The draft general comment was adopted.

MISCELLANEOUS MATTERS (continued)

The CHAIRPERSON said that Mr. Kolosov would serve as rapporteur on follow-up to the Committee’s concluding observations; Ms. Barahon Riera and Mr. Kerdoun would serve as rapporteurs for follow-up to the activities of other treaty bodies. Ms. Barahon Riera, Ms. Bonoan-Dandan, Ms. Bras Gomes, Mr. Riedel and Mr. Texier would serve as focal points for liaison with United Nations agencies and programmes. At the next session a meeting would be organized between the Committee and representatives of United Nations agencies in Geneva with a view to strengthening cooperation.

She welcomed the publication of a compilation of the Committee’s concluding observations on Latin American and Caribbean countries between 1989 and 2004, which had been jointly prepared by the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the United Nations Development Programme in Santiago, Chile. Similar publications should be prepared for other regions as well.

CLOSURE OF THE SESSION

After the customary exchange of courtesies, the CHAIRPERSON declared that the Committee had completed its work at the thirty-fourth session.
