ADOPTION OF THE ANNUAL REPORT

The annual report of the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (E/2009/22) was adopted.

CLOSURE OF THE SESSION

The CHAIRPERSON thanked the two outgoing members of the Committee, Ms. Wilson and Mr. Rzeplinski, and wished them every success for the future.

Ms. WILSON thanked the Chairperson, the Committee members and the Secretariat for their collaboration and their competence. She would be happy to work with them again in the future as an independent expert. She looked forward to the imminent adoption of the Optional Protocol.

Mr. RZEPLINSKI, also thanking the Chairperson, the Committee members and the Secretariat, commented that his time on the Committee had been the most important four years of his life and that he was sad to be leaving. He would also be willing to cooperate with the Committee as an independent expert.

The CHAIRPERSON expressed thanks to the staff of the High Commissioner’s Office for their goodwill and hard work during a difficult session in which there had been no permanent Secretary, and thanked the Committee members for their patience. He had enjoyed his time as Chairperson and was satisfied with the work achieved over the previous two years.

Ms. BRÁS GOMES thanked the Chairperson for the balanced approach that he had adopted throughout his term and congratulated him on his work.

Mr. SA’DI thanked the outgoing Committee members and the Chairperson, who was to be commended on his constructive and open-minded approach.

The CHAIRPERSON declared the forty-first session of the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights closed.
