Annotations
1.Opening of the meeting
The thirty-fifth meeting of Chairs of the human rights treaty bodies will be opened by a representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
2.Election of officers
The Chair and Vice-Chair will be elected at the opening of the meeting on the basis of the established principle of rotation agreed upon by the Chairs.
3.Adoption of the agenda and organization of work
The Chairs will adopt the agenda based on the provisional agenda contained in the present document. They will also adopt the draft programme of work and consider any organizational matters.
4.Follow-up to the conclusions of the thirty-fourth meeting of Chairs of the human rights treaty bodies
The Chairs will give priority to the consideration of the conclusions contained in their report on the thirty-fourth meeting (A/77/228).
5.Progress made on the alignment of the working methods and practices of the treaty bodies
The Chairs will consider recent developments related to the working methods of the treaty bodies and efforts to align them.
6.Intersessional activities, including joint meetings with other mechanisms
The Chairs will discuss the results of their recent intersessional activities, including meetings with the Committee of Experts of the International Labour Organization and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, and consider priorities for forthcoming intersessional activities.
7.Implementation by the treaty bodies of the Guidelines against Intimidation or Reprisals (San José Guidelines)
The Chairs will discuss the note by the secretariat on the practices of the human rights treaty bodies on intimidation and reprisals and issues for further action by the Chairs (HRI/MC/2023/2).
8.Consultations with States parties, senior United Nations Officials, United Nations agencies and civil society organizations
In paragraph 39 of its resolution 68/268, the General Assembly encouraged the human rights treaty bodies to strengthen the possibilities for interaction during the annual meetings of the Chairs of the treaty bodies with States parties to all human rights treaties, with a view to ensuring a forum for an open and formal interactive dialogue.
Under the present agenda item, the Chairs will hold consultations with States, senior United Nations officials, United Nations agencies and civil society organizations.
9.Modalities and organization of future meetings of Chairs
With the aim of further enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of their annual meetings, the Chairs will discuss the working modalities and organization of their future meetings.
10.Any other business
The Chairs will discuss any other matter that should arise relating to the work of human rights treaty bodies.
11.Adoption of the conclusions of the thirty-fifth meeting
The Chairs will adopt the draft conclusions of the thirty-fifth meeting, including, as necessary, recommendations to be submitted to the General Assembly at its seventy-eighth session.
