Addendum

1.In accordance with article 17 of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, the fifteenth meeting of States parties to the Convention is to be held at the United Nations Office at Geneva on 8 October 2015 for the purpose of electing five members of the Committee against Torture from a list of persons nominated by States parties to replace those whose terms of office will expire on 31 December 2015 (see CAT/SP/15/2).

2.The curricula vitae of the 13 persons whose nominations were received by 16 June 2015 are contained in document CAT/SP/15/2, annex.

3.The annex to the present document contains the curriculum vitae of one additional person who was nominated by Pakistan after 16 June 2015.

Current position/function

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister/Minister of State for Cabinet Division. Assistance to the Federal Government on legal/political issues. To deal with matters relating to various authorities and attached departments under administrative control of Cabinet Division and provide guidance to improve their performance to meet the vision of Prime Minister as a whole.

Ensure protection and promotion of civil, political and socio-economic rights through advising on capacity building and advocacy initiatives.

Understanding and interpreting the law.

Provide support to the Federal Government to integrate human rights principles and rights-based approaches into ongoing and envisaged legal and development progress.

Incorporating human rights principles into public law.

Vetting of human rights litigation documents.

Reviewing human rights compliance in legislation, policies, plans, practices and procedures for ensuring respect and fulfillment of human rights by the Federal Government.

Writing opinions, advising solicitors and other professionals on human rights and law.

Legal assistance to Federal Government and overseeing work/functions of Cabinet Division.
