Note by the Secretary-General

1.In accordance with articles 30, paragraph 4, and 32 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the twenty-ninth meeting of States parties to the Covenant will be convened by the Secretary-General at United Nations Headquarters on Thursday, 2 September 2010.

2.The curricula vitae of 19 candidates received by 1 June 2010 are reproduced in document CCPR/SP/75.

3.Attached to the present document are the curricula vitae of the candidates proposed by Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Kenya after 1 June 2010.

2.Permanent Secretary of the “Entité de liaison des droits de l’homme” in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

4.Executive Secretary of the national commission responsible for follow-up to the Human Rights Council universal periodic review of the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

1.Monitoring cases of human rights violations and managing relations between the Government and human rights NGOs.

2.General rapporteur for approximately 20 national and international seminars on human rights and justice issues.

3.Presentation of reports to the Human Rights Council and the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

4.Preparation of initial and periodic reports on human rights issues.

2.Chairperson of the working group responsible for drawing up the national report on the human rights situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for submission to the Human Rights Council (universal periodic review process), 2009–2010.

3.Professional inspections of the prisons in all 11 of the country’s provinces.

4.Member of the Committee of Experts and Permanent Secretary of the “Entité de liaison des droits de l’homme” in the Democratic Republic of the Congo; working to protect the right to life; combating arbitrary detention and combating torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment.
