Consideration of reports

(a)Reports submitted by States parties in accordance with articles 16 and 17 of the Covenant (continued) (E/C.12/AFG/CO/2-4; E/C.12/DZA/CO/4; E/C.12/COL/CO/5; E/C.12/KAZ/CO/1; E/C.12/MUS/CO/4)

The Chairperson said he took it that the Committee wished to adopt the concluding observations on the reports of Afghanistan, Algeria, Colombia, Kazakhstan and Mauritius.

It was so decided.

The Chairperson said that the concluding observations just adopted would be communicated to the States parties concerned and published.

Substantive issues arising in the implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (continued)

The Chairperson drew attention to the substantive issues addressed by the Committee at its current session. It had held meetings on maternal mortality and morbidity with the United Nations Programme on the Family and the Centre for Reproductive Rights, to lay the foundation for a general comment on sexual and reproductive rights; on the environment, climate change and human rights, with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation; and on indicators of economic, social and cultural rights and harmonization with other treaty bodies, with the independent expert on the question of human rights and extreme poverty and the Director of the Human Rights Treaties Division of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

At the invitation of the Chairperson, the members of the Committee observed a minute of silence.

Closure of the session

After the customary exchange of courtesies, the Chairperson declared the forty-fourth session of the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights closed.
